Green coffee extract, derived from unroasted Coffea arabica beans, is widely recognized for its high content of chlorogenic acids (CGAs), typically ranging from 45% to 60% of total polyphenols depending on the extraction process.
Chlorogenic acids have been extensively studied for their role in glucose metabolism. Clinical and preclinical data suggest that CGAs can reduce intestinal glucose absorption by inhibiting glucose-6-phosphatase activity, leading to improved glycemic control. Some human studies have reported reductions in postprandial glucose levels of up to 15–30%, depending on dosage and formulation.
In addition, CGAs contribute significantly to antioxidant activity. Using assays such as ABTS and DPPH, green coffee extracts demonstrate high radical scavenging capacity, often exceeding 70–80% inhibition rates at standard concentrations. This antioxidant effect is associated with reduced oxidative stress and potential anti-aging benefits.
Another important component is caffeine, typically present in green coffee extract at levels between 1.5% and 3%. Caffeine is known to stimulate the central nervous system and promote thermogenesis, increasing energy expenditure by approximately 3–11%, as reported in metabolic studies. This makes green coffee extract a relevant ingredient for weight management formulations.
Nutri P offers an additional advantage due to its low lipid content, which improves oxidative stability and extends shelf life compared to lipid-rich botanical extracts. Its water solubility also enables efficient incorporation into functional beverages, powdered supplements, and instant formulations.
The synergistic interaction between CGAs, caffeine, and other polyphenols reinforces the concept that the efficacy of green coffee extract lies in its complete phytochemical matrix, rather than isolated compounds.
As global demand for natural, plant-based, and multifunctional ingredients continues to grow, green coffee extract stands out as a scientifically supported solution for metabolic health, antioxidant protection, and performance-oriented applications.
